Following the client filing out their questionnaire, I dive deep into the brand strategy. Researching competitors and how to set them a part, leaders in their industry, target audience demographics and psychology, industry trends, and more. Then, I create their Discovery Presentation to make sure every aspect of the brand we are on the same page about. This will include their Brand DNA (Personality), Taglines/Mission Statement, Goals, and multiple moodboards. 
For every client I initially send them a welcome packet and brand questionnaire. The welcome packet is to go over project timeline, objectives, communication styles, and frequently asked questions.
